For excellence in dance....
For many years we have been attending the Ballroom and Latin Nationwide medalist of the year qualifiers events, and we have now added the street dance event to our programme. This involves a qualifying competition run in the south to represent the South East area at the Nationwide Finals held every year in April at the Wintergardens Ballroom in Blackpool.
This is held over a long weekend where competitors dance for their own individual title `Nationwide Medalist of the Year`. This is danced as a solo competition, where the pupil will be partnered by a more experienced member of the dance school. If you are interested in this event, please speak to one of your teachers. It is a fantastic fun, and very rewarding weekend, where the school stays together in one hotel. We consider it a not to be missed, family adventure.
The Supadance League is a both a friendly and competitive league for genuine medalist dancers who wish to represent their dance school by competing in teams. Each team consisting of four couples. All teams are divided into separate age groups and then in to a first and second division league.
At the Diamond Dancentre we have developed our own special way of working with these teams to produce a winning combination. In addition to the usual tuition classes, and private lessons, we offer team-training days, and money raising fun events sponsored by our Friends of the Diamond Dancentre committee.
This dance comp is open to all Juvenile and junior grades and gives our experienced dancers a taste for higher achievement as they will compete against the highest of dance grades at this event, they also run competitions for the open ammeters which gives the atmosphere a real buzz, there are also team sequence matches which are run before the single competitions, to see these you will need to turn up early!
Unfortunately the Watford Colosseum is now closed until 2011 for refurbishment, so the next comp will be held in May 2012.
